Activities about the connection between
rare plants, wildlife, and geology on the Selah Cliffs Natural Area Preserve
in the Yakima River Basin.

students can wear home which indicate the life cycle of the Salmon.

Providing information and education
about recycling and how it effects the environment in a positive manner. 
- Bull Trout Radio-telemetry Study & Yakima Basin
and Fish I.D.
Poster display of 2003-07 bull trout
radiotelemetry research conducted by WDFW in the Naches Basin w/ hands-on
equipment demonstration; coldwater & warmwater
fish I.D. and biology lesson.

- Yakama Nations Fisheries
Importance of Salmon to the Yakama People.
Students will hear how important salmon is to the Yakama people as well
as the Yakama salmon legend. Also what the tribe is doing to help restore
salmon in the Yakima Basin 
- Fish&WL tagging and monitoring
How
fish are tagged and monitored during their life cycle. In some cases
from the river to the ocean and back.
- Furs, Feathers & Bones - Yakima Basin Environmental
Education Program
Focus will be on the birds and mammals
of the watershed. Presentation will cover form and function, food
chains, ect.
- Riparian Restoration
A hands-on demonstration of the riparian
restoration efforts in the Yakima Basin. The demonstration covers a working stream and the various projects that restore it. Projects include a culvert/bridge replacement, shading with tree plantings, large woody debris placement, and fish screening in agriculture..
- Cowiche Canyon Conservancy
A discussion of shrub steppe: the geology
of central Washington: and how water shed effects the major rivers. 
- PPL
An interactive and hands-on opportunity
to learn why birds
use power poles and see what Pacific Power does to make poles safe places for
birds to perch.
- Raptor
House Rehab Center
The Raptor House Rehab Center cares for
sick, injuried, and orphaned birds of prey We also take care of the large
aquatic birds such as Pelican, Herons, Fishers, Ducks, Swans, and Geese.
We were established in 1998. We are a non for profit 501(c)(3) corporation
dedicated to the care of wildlife.

Co. PUD Aquarium
Local Yakima and Naches river Fish in a large
aquarium to view and identify the species and anatomy. 
- Dept of Ecology -
This exhibit will explain the historical
and modern day importance of the water drawn from the Yakima River
to the people of the Yakima Valley, and why it is a vital resource
to conserve. Along with the history and natural resource lesson the
students will be given an interactive Water Quiz to make them aware
of how much water they use and how much water it takes to do daily
things like brushing your teeth or watering the lawn.

County Noxious Weed Board
Yakima County Noxious Weed Contol Board is very active in managing the noxious weeds along the Yakima and Naches rivers riparian areas. They will present alternative measures to week control and let the students know how they can be part of the solution to reduce the spread of noxious weeds.

Miniature golf course that depicts
the life cycle of Salmon. 
- Dept of Ecology
Water purity and how to keep your water
system from getting contaiminated or polluted. 
U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers
The primary goal is to teach youth
about watersheds, salmon, human impacts on the environment, and the
inter-connective nature of ecosystems. 
- D.O.T. Helping Transportation and Wildlife
Come find out how the Washington State
Department of Transportation actually improves fish habitat while
building highways. Please visit this fun, interactive, hands-on
booth!
