Matching Grant Doubles Your Gift!
A generous donor has stepped forward to offer a matching grant. This means that every dollar donated up to $20,000 before midnight December 31st, 2018 will be doubled!
You have watched it in the news. You have driven by the trails and pathway and seen the burned trees and brush.
It’s not pretty and it must stop NOW!
The summer of 2018 brought tremendous hot weather and dry conditions throughout our region. Many parts of our community were overwhelmed by the smoke. The Yakima Greenway took a direct hit. Years of accumulated dead brush and fallen trees deposited by the Yakima River, including decades old wood chips and tailings from mill sites, has created the perfect fuel when unintentional or intentional fires happen. Unexpectedly, several large sections of the Greenway nature trails have burned, and the pathway closed for use.
You can stop these dangerous fires from happening again by sending in a generous gift today. Your gift will go directly to Clean up and Clear out what is unwanted on our trails, riverway and pathway.
Your dollars will make it possible to;
Hire additional crews to eliminate hazards that are creating unsafe conditions for our Firefighting and maintenance crews.
Provide safer and better public access to the Yakima River for recreation.
Clean up abandoned campsites that encourage dangerous activities.
My Goal is to raise $100,000 by December 31, 2018. Every penny will go towards trail and park clean up, restoration and maintenance, including safety and fire prevention activities.
The amazing news is that because of a generation donor, every dollar will be matched up to $20,000! This means your gift will double. Double your impact today by sending in a gift of $50 or more. Your generosity combined with other donors in our community makes it possible for safer and more beautiful Greenway experience for all.
THANK YOU for sending your most generous gift in response to this urgent need.
Kellie Connaughton, Executive Director
