Enjoy a weekend in Wine Country touring the many local tasting rooms, stroll along the Yakima Greenway and enjoy playgrounds, fishing and paved paths stretching 22 miles, visit one of many local parks in town, stay at any of many hotels and experience the vast restaurant cuisines available in and around Yakima.
Triathlon distances: Olympic 1.5k swim 40k bike 10k run; Sprint 800m swim 20k bike 5k run. The swim begins in waist deep water just off a rock bank, near the transition area. One common transition area is used for the swim-bike (run-bike) (T1) and bike-run (T2) transitions. All athletes enter the transition area from the south and bicycles exit to the north through the tree lined path, then head out of the business park headed south9turn right) on 16th Ave, turn right on to River Road, cross Fruitvale and follow River Road to South Naches Highway a quick left before the “twin bridges ”. Bike heads toward Naches on the South Naches Highway, with Sprint turnaround at Young’s Grade and Olympic at Ranger Road returning to Lake Aspen transition area. Runners exit the Business Park to the north (left turn) for a short distance on 16th Avenue then race onto the Yakima Greenway. Sprint athletes turnaround before 40th Avenue while Olympic athletes cross over the old train trestle between Yakima and Gleed before returning to the Lake Aspen finish line on the grassy lawn.
Duathlon distance 600 meter run, 20k bike, 5k run. Your race will start at the transition area. This short run heads out towards 16th Ave, take a left and follow the Greenway path around the property and through gate, follow the sidewalk back to the transition area run-bike (T1). The remaining bike and run follows the Sprint course. This event is individual only, no teams.
