Gap2Gap 2023

The Adult Gap2Gap and the Junior Gap2Gap are relay races that directly support and highlight recreation on the Yakima Greenway. Both races consist of four legs that can be completed solo or as a team and spans the Yakima area from the Heart of the Greenway at Sarg Hubbard park following the Yakima River to the Union Gap, through Hop fields and shrub steppe to the Selah Gap and back to the Sarg Hubbard Park. Participants are challenged both by the course and to be the top fundraiser for the Yakima Greenway Foundation.

Awards will be presented at Sarg Hubbard Park following the conclusion of the race.  We will have food, entertainment and a beer garden on site. Each participant will get a one food and one drink ticket for after the race.



Junior Gap2Gap

Junior Gap2Gap is a relay race that directly supports and highlights recreation on the Yakima Greenway. Go solo or get your team together to run, bike, obstacle course & kayak*! And for the first time, if you register for Gap2Gap, you will automatically be entered into the Junior Yakima Mile! We are excited to partner with Hogback Development to encourage kids to get outside and have some fun!

Each participant will receive a complimentary water and lunch after the race! Awards and family fun entertainment following the race. All team racers must be in the same age group to compete together - No exceptions. Maps, packet pickup dates and more information will be sent the first week of May. 

8:00 to 8:40AM - Check In with registration

8:45AM - Mandatory pre-race meeting Any changes to the day’s schedule or courses will be announced at this time. A responsible member from each team MUST attend so they can pass this information on to other team members.

9:00AM - 13 & 14 year olds

9:15AM - 11 & 12 year olds

9:30AM - 9 & 10 year olds

9:40AM - 7 & 8 year olds (No Kayak - 4th leg will be in the obstacle course)

*Kayak: Ages 9 to 14 will complete ONE lap around the pond - staying on the OUTSIDE of the buoys. Ages 7 & 8 will not complete the kayak portion of the race.

The Yakima Mile

The Yakima Mile brings world-class Olympians, NCAA Champion Runners and any others who are ready to run their fastest mile...ever! 

Runners of all ages and abilities are also welcome. Families, kids and even dogs are encouraged to participate and enjoy a fun and high-energy event.

7:45 A.M. Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting at Sarg Hubbard Park

8:00 A.M. Race Begins

*All racers must arrive at the mountain bike portion of the race by 11:30AM. Sweepers will be on the course to assist anyone that needs help or assistance getting back to Sarg Hubbard Park.
