
NEW RACE SERIES
STARTING MARCH 1st!
New this year, the River Run Series is a collection of four 5K races held along the Yakima Greenway, designed to take runners beyond their usual routes and into parts of the Greenway they may not often experience. Each run highlights a different stretch of the river, inviting participants to explore new scenery while staying active. From competitive runners to families looking to discover new areas along the river, the River Run Series offers a fun, welcoming way to experience everything the Greenway has to offer.

Series INFORMATION
Series DateS: March 1, March 22, April 12, and May 3
Series Location: Along the Yakima Greenway (varies by race, more info below)
Series Time: Races start at 8:30am
Series PRICE: $15/per race OR $50 for all four and you get a River Race Series T-Shirt!
AWARDS: Medals will be awarded at each race to the top three finishers in the following categories: Boys 17 & Under, Girls 17 & Under, Men 18–50, Women 18–50, Men 50+, Women 50+
Courses will include a mix of pavement, gravel, and dirt roads, with generally flat elevation profiles. Ideal for runners, joggers, and walkers of all experience levels. All races will take place along the Greenway between Union Gap and Naches.
Race One: Spring Creek
Race Date: March 1st, 2026

Race Distance: 5k (3.1miles)
Race TIming: Races will be timed with a clock at the finish line.
Food & Nutrition: Please bring your own water, energy or snacks as needed. There will be water & sport drink available at start line.

Course Description: Launch the River Run Series on a beautiful 3.1-mile tour of the Greenway at Spring Creek Trailhead. This mostly flat, mixed-surface course, pavement, gravel, and dirt road, keeps things interesting as it winds past ponds, wetlands, and stretches of the Yakima River. It’s a unique, inspiring opener that invites you to settle into your stride and enjoy the scenery and wildlife of the Yakima Greenway.
Race Two: Robertson Landing

Race Distance: 5k (3.1miles)

Course Description: Race 2 delivers a little extra kick at Robertson Landing. This 3.1-mile course features minimal elevation gain, highlighted by two short but punchy paved hills. Towards the finish, the course flows back along the Yakima River, offering a smooth, scenic stretch perfect for finding your rhythm and pushing the pace.
Race 3: Rotary Lake & Humane Spirit Trail

Course Description: Set in the heart of the Greenway, Race 3 offers a flat and fast 3.1-mile course starting at the Rotary Lake parking lot and winding along the Humane Spirit Trail. With a blend of paved paths, gravel, and dirt roads, runners race through natural areas, wetlands, and around ponds.
Race 4: Harlan Landing

Course Description: Close out the series with speed at Harlan Landing. This all-pavement, 3.1-mile out-and-back course starts with a short uphill before opening into a fast, flowing route along the Yakima River. Crossing the bridge over the Yakima and Naches Rivers and finishing with a downhill push, this race is built for strong finishes, a fast finale to the River Run Series.

Sign up for all four races in the River Run Series and receive an exclusive series t-shirt. The design celebrates the unique sights and moments you may encounter on your runs and along the Yakima Greenway, making it a fun keepsake that reflects the landscapes, wildlife, and community that make each race special.

T-shirts will be handed out May 3rd at the last race of the series to all full series participants. You do not need to physically participate in all 4 races to receive your t-shirt but you must register for the full series.
