Course Map:

Course Details:

The Gap2Gap mountain bike leg features a challenging circuit course at Sarg Hubbard Park that riders will complete twice. The course combines gravel sections and winding singletrack with tight turns, uneven terrain, and natural debris that demand strong bike handling and focus. Conditions may include loose surfaces and variable footing throughout the loop, making this leg best suited for competent, confident riders who are comfortable navigating technical off-road terrain at speed.

Equiptment:

There are no restrictions on the type of mountain bike you may use, as long as it is in good working condition. E-bikes and recumbents are NOT permitted. While gravel or cyclocross bikes are allowed, riders should be aware that the course includes singletrack, loose gravel, grass, mud, and other off-road conditions, which may prove challenging for those setups. Helmets are mandatory and must be worn at all times during this leg. Race bibs must be worn at all times and bikes must have bib number visible as well. All bikes will be inspected by race officials prior to the start to ensure compliance, and earbuds or audio devices are not allowed while racing

Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting:

There will be a pre-race meeting at 7:30 AM on race day. IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL RACERS ATTEND THIS MEETING TO GET THE LATEST SAFETY INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE.

Registration:

A designated team representative must pick up the team’s race packet prior to the race. The packet includes the team timing chip, racing bibs, and T-shirts, and the designated representative is responsible for distributing these items to team members. There will be no extra racing bibs available at the exchange areas. Iron Division solo racers must pick up their own race packets prior to the race.

Timing Chips:

Race timing chips are worn on an ankle or wrist band and must remain visible and unobstructed at all times in order to be read. Iron Division solo racers are required to wear their timing chip for the entire race. Teams will use a single timing chip, which must be properly handed off between participants at each transition. The timing chip will not register if it is concealed in any way, such as in a pocket or closed hand. DO NOT LOSE YOUR TIMING CHIP. Teams & Iron participants are responsible for cost of replacing lost timing chips.
